Being sustainable may seem expensive and hard to do, but I will assure you it is Simple! Here are my 10 simple ways to be sustainable today!
I know you think, "I do that already" but most people do not think about recycling when they are on the go. At work if there are no recycling bins, make one out of an empty box or extra waste bin. Place it in the lunchroom and recycle weekly at your local recycling facility or place in your own bins at home. (California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Oregon, and Vermont
There are so many ways to save water at home. A few simple things you can do today are;
In the shower turn off water while you lather up and in between shampooing and conditioning.
Turn off the water when you brush your teeth.
Use the dishwasher, it uses less water than hand washing.
Don't wash clothes everyday. Try to wash weekly. (Have extra uniforms for work).
REDUCE ENERGY USE
During the day, don't turn on lights unless you necessarily need to.
SKIP THE TV; have a family game night, read a book.
Turn off the A/C; Leave it off when you're not home, put the A/C on a schedule.
Use blackout curtains to keep the home cool during the hot summer days
Buy energy saving light bulbs.
Meal Prep for the week. Instead of cooking daily, try to cook most of your meal once a week.
DITCH PLASTIC BOTTLES, USE WATER FILTERS
Buy water filters that attach to the faucet and take stainless steel or glass water bottles on the go.

LIMIT EATING OUT
We all love to chow down on something different flavors! Eating at home can save you money and reduce the amount of non-reusable items companies
USE RECYCLED PAPER
Recycled to paper products are a great way to reduce, reuse and recycle. There are a tons products out there that use recycled items. Like business cards, toilet paper, bags, and so much more!
Choose the paperless method if it is possible! All bank statements and bills have the option to go paperless. One less sheet of paper can save a lot of trees!
USE COLD WATER
Use cold water when you wash clothes. Did you know that about 90% of the energy used by the washing machine during laundry goes towards heating the water? You can save a lot of energy and at the same time protect your clothes from getting shrinking, bleeding, fading, plus you can do big loads.
BYOB: BRING YOUR OWN BAG
Bring bags everywhere you shop. Plastic and paper bags are so bad for the environment. Keep in mind that the same crude oil that eventually fuels cars as gasoline is also used to produce plastic. How about paper bags? Well the truth is that paper bags generate more air pollutants than plastic. They generate 50 times more water pollutants than plastic and It takes about 90 percent less energy to recycle a plastic bag than it's paper counterpart. So PLEASE, bring your own sustainable bag and help to save the Planet.
